The Sudanese Community and Information Center (SCIC) participated in the Westway Community Festival on Sunday the 26th of July 2015. This was a joint effort with a group of volunteers who braved the rain and came out to support in great numbers.
There was also a great contribution by Azza School and the ladies from the school assisted the volunteers of SCIC and created a great joint feeling of celebration.
The Sudanese community attempted to create a visual presentation to reflect the richness of Sudanese culture and showcase the festivities and vibrancy of our traditions such as the preparation of a Sudanese bride. There was also a coffee (jabana) display.
There was Sudanese traditional music.
There was a huge interest from everyone present at the festival with some declaring the display one of the best presented.
The mayor was also present and vowed to assist the community with its attempt at youth inclusion through the youth club, its FGM workshops and community house.
